Steve McQueen's Cobra turns up at the Maker faire in Northville, Michigan
Text and photos by Dean V. Ricci

August 29, 2015 -- Northville, Michigan -- I had seen a flyer for one of those Maker Faire type places that are popping up around Southeastern Michigan. The Maker Faire group decided to hold a car show and Open House at their facility, to publicize their existence. Aside from no cooperation from Mother Nature (what else is new this summer), the event was not disappointing.

The Village Workshop in Northville, Michigan is quite a place. All you have to have is an idea of something you want to make. They have all the tools you would need to bring your ideas to life. Not only tools, but a full staff of knowledgeable folks who can show you the right way to use their tools and help you get started.

In the event flyers (click on an image above to enlarge) they said that one of the features was to be Steve McQueen's Cobra was to be on display. I can honestly tell you the only reason I attended this show today was to see this car. I was not disappointed in the slightest.

CSX 2174 certainly shows no sign of its age. What a beautiful machine, both inside and out. I did notice that the car has Michigan plates on it, so it must be owned and registered in our State somewhere. More photos are in the gallery below.

The event today featured tours of the facility, food provided by the cafe inside the facility and a live band that really sounded good. The street was blocked off to traffic and there was plenty of parking for the show cars. Really a great event and an excellent facility. I truly hope this 1st Annual car show is the first of many for years to come.
