The Most Prestigious Award in the Hot Rodding Industry. The 2012 Ridler Award at the 60th Annual Detroit Autorama has been decided. And the WINNER is ....

A 1955 T-Bird owned by Dwayne Peace, of Tyler , TX had a really great story to tell... it was a family project that started several years ago when the car bug bit the Peace sons. Dad bought them a Sonoma that he thought was a great car for them, only to come home and find them sanding the paint off of the car ......they wanted to “customize” it. THAT is how we know a bona fide born “car nut”.... they have to be modifying and working on their cars... And so ... the story began. They moved on to a Blazer which ended up being.. well ablaze when it burned. But the boys were determined car guys already.

The T Bird had been in the famiy for over 20 years and after trying to sell it with no “takers” they decided to “customize” it. Thus, Matt Peace’s Torq’d Design Lab in Tyler Texas was born. With such a big project, they enlisted the help of Jesse Greening and company ..and the crew collaborated brilliantly.

The competition was fierce... being the 60th Anniversary Detroit Autorama brought out a record number of contenders and in the Great were some of the finest cars we’ve ever seen. The effort and love that goes into each and every one is something only an owner and builder can know. and in this competition, this year there were several cars that were indeed Ridler winning quality.
