A night on Woodward

August 18, 2010 -- A Wednesday night during any given week can be a non-eventful, dull, drab affair. A Wednesday night on Woodward Avenue during cruise week is anything but dull.

This year the Shelby Club put forth another effort to find a way for club members to assemble and enjoy the sights and sounds of Woodward Avenue. So, instead of trying to set something up for the Saturday during all the craziness, we opted to go during the week, just before things explode on the Avenue.

Club member Phil Jacobs was able to get us a parking lot to use at the Autozone Book and Toy store near 14 mile and Woodward. This was an excellent location and provided us with prime viewing of the Detroit Iron that zoomed past us during the night.

We probably had a total of 40 people assembled in the lot with a nice selection of cars including, T-Birds, Mark 8s, New Shelbys, original Shelbys, a rare GT500KR in Yellow with Black stripes, the Cobra of Jim and Wendy Binder, rounded out with lots of Mustangs.

The club bought Pizza for all in attendance and I must say a grand time was had by all.

As usual, the long distance award goes out to John Guyer who drove down from the city of Lake, Michigan to be back in his old stomping grounds, to see the cars and visit with the club.
