The passing of Bill Rowe

On Tuesday evening, August 24, 2010 -- several friends went to GingerMan Raceway for some late afternoon track time. Long time SAAC-MCR club member and former club Competition Director, Bill Rowe was among those at the track.

During his track session, Bill had an incident during a test and tune session in his 1990 Ford Mustang. He was running the first session when apparently Bill's vehicle went off course in turn 9, a left hander, and into a turn station.

A report from the track says he was unresponsive when the turn workers approached him. It appears, although unconfirmed, that he suffered from a medical condition while behind the wheel, a heart attack.
Bill passed away the evening of August 24, 2010 at the age of 73.

Bill was always an active club member and a volunteer. He did serve time with the club as its Competition Director for SAAC-MCR track events.

Since leaving that post, Bill often volunteered his time as a driving instructor at our annual Driver's School at Waterford Hills. Bill could often be seen driving his 1990 Ford Mustang at track events. Bill would number his car based upon his age, so this year the car wore #73.

With his passing, please have Bill's wife Carol and their daughters Jennifer and Christy in your thoughts. You may send cards to:
