Hot Rod Magazine staged it's annual invasion of Mt. Clemens, Michigan as the last leg of it's annual Power Tour
Text and Photos by Dean V. Ricci

The weekend of May 8, 9, 10, 1998 marked the official arrival of summer as some 2000 or so hot rods of various shapes and sizes converged on the city of Mt. Clemens, Michigan. This event is held as the final leg of the annual Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour.

The Power Tour begins in Los Angeles, California at Petersen Publications headquarters and motors its way across the United States to wind up in the newly crowned Hot Rod captial of the free world, Mt. Clemens, Michigan.

Despite the enormity of cars registered, the event still maintains the intimacy you might find at a local cruise night. The event isn't scattered all over town like the Woodward Dream Cruise, things are pretty much centralized in the downtown area.

As you'll see when you tour the Photo Gallery below, the power tour is bound to become the premiere event in the area to showcase hot rods and classic muscle cars. These vehicles are enjoyed by so many throughout Southeastern Michigan, as well as coast to coast -- we are very fortunate to have an event such as this, right in our backyard.
