Awesome Replica of Steve Scott's Uncertain - T

What started as a cartoon of a wild hot rod, and a teenage dream in 1960, went on to become one of the most famous, and mysterious show rods of all time. When "The Uncertain-T" first hit the show circuit in 1965, Car Craft Magazine described it as "A real bent out of shape show stopper!" Steve Scott's abstract characterization of a Model T had a short and very influential career. "The Uncertain-T" won the Sweepstakes Hot Rod Award from under George Barris' nose. It went on to become a Monogram model kit, tour nationally, win Sweepstakes in every show Steve entered it, and receive a lot of magazine ink.

Shown below are photos of the original creation and the supporting Model kits.

The replica of the Uncertain T came to Autorama this year from New Zealand. The car was the result of a seven year build by the Kiwi Hot Rodders Martin and Marion Bennett.  Bennett was inspired to re-create the Uncertain-T after he put together a model car kit of Steve Scott's car. In November of 2019 Alistair Davidson of New Zealand Rodder Magazine told Sondre Kvipt of Kustomrama that Bennett consulted a fiberglass company about the build. They told him he should use a buck, "but Martin said, "why not used the buck as the body?" So, Martin's tribute has a wood body." The body, dash, and console were handmade out of wood. The wood was covered in fiberglass and gel-coat to provide a good surface for the paint.
